Year of the snake 2025

2025 marks the Year of the Snake, with Lunar New Year day falling on 29 January. The Snake symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, intuition, and creativity. Often referred to as the “little dragon,” it carries a positive and powerful connotation.

In some Chinese legends, snakes’ ability to shed their skin and renew themselves symbolises transformation and rebirth.

Something new is already happening in China already – an 8-day holiday. Could this boost domestic demand, and impact New Zealand tourism and other exports as well?

Watch our video explainer to find out more.  Happy Lunar New Year!
