NZ Chinese Language Week 2024

Welcome to our second New Zealand Chinese Language Week video on similar wisdom of Māori Whakataukī and Chinese sayings.

Today’s video features :
🔹 Māori Whakataukī: Ka pū te rūhā, ka hao te rangatahi – As an old net withers, another is remade.
🔹 Chinese saying: 长江后浪推前浪 (“Cháng jiāng hòu làng tuī qián làng” in Mandarin, “coeng4gong1 hau6long6 teoi1 cin4long6” in Cantonese). The waves behind drive on those ahead in the Yangtze River.

Both proverbs reflect the idea of the continuous renewal of generations and the passing of knowledge and responsibility to the younger generation.
