Double Ninth Festival 2023

While we observe our Labour Day on Monday, 23 October this year, it is the Double Ninth Festival in China, also known as Chōng Yáng (重阳). This festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. In 1989 China designated this day as Seniors Day, shifting the focus towards care and love for the elderly. But as demographics change, aged care has become a year-round concern – creating a significant new ‘silver economy’ market potential for some New Zealand goods and services exporters.
