Wendy Matthews

Wendy Matthews is the Divisional Manager of the North Asia Division of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Wendy is a career diplomat, with previous postings to Ha Noi as Ambassador (2016-2020), New Delhi as Deputy High Commissioner (2011-2014) and Beijing (2005- 2006).

Wendy’s previous roles have included trade negotiation and trade policy responsibilities, advising on international legal affairs and managing New Zealand’s participation in political, security and economic regional fora such as APEC, ASEAN Regional Forum and the East Asia Summit.

Wendy graduated from the University of Otago with Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science). Wendy speaks Mandarin.
