Jenny Too

Jenny is the National President of New Zealand Chinese Association. She is also  a Trustee of New Zealand Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust, and Justice of the Peace for New Zealand.

As a resident of Hawke’s Bay, Jenny is a key leader within the community. She has over 40 years of experience voluntarily serving the Chinese, ethnic and wider communities including Hawkes Bay Chinese Association Inc, and Multicultural Association Hawkes Bay Inc (formerly HB Ethnic Council) and has been on Executive Boards serving as President, Vice President, Secretary, and was in various Sub-Committee roles.

As a local leader, facilitator and stalwart of the Chinese and multicultural communities Jenny has been educating on the past, leveraging the present and developing the future.

Jenny gained valued experience over the years in partnership and liaison work with Government agencies, Embassies, Napier City Council and Hastings District Council.

She is a board member of International Advisory Group and a member of Multicultural Strategy Working Group for Hastings District Council, the first city in North Island to launch a local Multicultural Strategy,

She has been a Convenor of Asians in the Bay Awards since 2017 for Multicultural Association HB.

Her involvement in many varied voluntary activities have encompassed administrative, logistical, event facilitating, social and welfare needs, educational and information sharing. She enjoys fundraising, event planning, networking. Her experience in strategic planning, project management, accounting and capital investment and as a Trustee all add to her keen positive energies.

Jenny’s communication skills include fluent English (NZ born) and Cantonese with more recent learning of Mandarin and Te Reo Maori.

She also enthuses in mentorship to youth, young professionals, new immigrants and of her work colleagues over the years.

After initial secretarial, finance, direct sales and hospitality work, Jenny devoted a very long career in the airline industry starting during the NAC era through to Air New Zealand, working in finance, cargo, payroll/HR, and for more than 25 years as an international travel consultant before enjoying a few years experiences in the Airport environment in Koru Lounge and in Customer Service Agent roles.

Now fully retired from paid employment,  Jenny is happily enjoying more time for her grandchildren and continuing with her volunteer community activities and hobbies.
