[Auckland] US–China Trade: Tariffs, Realignment, and Implications for Foreign Firms operating in China
Come along to a breakfast session that cuts through the noise on US–China trade – and what it means for Kiwi businesses operating globally.
The Auckland Business Chamber will be joined by David Mahon, New Zealand’s most experienced China-based corporate adviser. David has lived in Beijing since 1984 and is the Chairman of Mahon China, a corporate advisory and asset management company that has managed private equity funds and advised leading multinationals including Fonterra, a2 Milk, Zespri, Pink Lady Apples, Good Farmer, Darigold, Weta Workshop, Les Mills, and Colonial Mutual.
This event is hosted by the Auckland Business Chamber in partnership with the New Zealand China Trade Association.
David will unpack the shifting dynamics of US–China trade: tariffs, realignment, and what foreign firms need to know to navigate this evolving landscape. He’ll explore how the Chinese government is responding, the changing foreign investment environment, and how companies are adjusting supply chains, managing risk, and addressing new compliance challenges. Importantly, he’ll also share insights on the growing trend of “friendshoring” and its implications for Kiwi businesses with interests in China.
