NZ-China investment report launch
Revisiting bilateral investment in a shifting global environment
New Zealand and China enjoy a strong two-way trade relationship, underpinned by our groundbreaking bilateral free trade agreement signed in 2008.
But despite the scale of this economic relationship, previous New Zealand China Council research revealed a more modest picture when it comes to two-way investment.
Our latest report—Invested Interests – An Update on the New Zealand–China Investment Relationship 2025— takes a fresh look at the current state of play. Is our investment relationship with China living up to its full potential? And what are the opportunities and barriers facing future two-way investment?
Produced by the New Zealand China Council Te Kaunihera o Aotearoa me Haina in collaboration with the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER), the report draws on data from 2014 to 2024 and includes:
- Updated data on bilateral investment flows
- A review of current New Zealand and China’s investment policy settings
- Case studies of Chinese investment in New Zealand
- Insights on investor migration
- New Zealand investment in China
Join us for the in-person launch of our report. The authors will present key insights, followed by a panel discussion, networking and light refreshments.
We look forward to seeing you there.
