Minister Mahuta’s Speech

Foreign Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta delivered a speech to the New Zealand China Council on Monday 19 April. This was the Minister’s first speech dedicated to the New Zealand-China Relationship since she was appointed to the position in November 2020.

In her speech, titled “ He Taniwha He Tipua, He Tipua He Taniwha – The Dragon and the Taniwha”, Minister Mahuta reiterated the importance of the NZ-China relationship to New Zealand, noting that “ a resilient and constructive relationship requires ongoing communication and investment in understanding one another.”
