China Council hosts visiting China scholar
The NZ China Council was pleased to host a luncheon discussion for business, government and media guests with Professor Bates Gill in Auckland on 5 September. Prof Gill is Professor of Asia-Pacific Strategic Studies at ANU College of Asia and the Pacific in Sydney. He is currently completing a term as Kippenberger Fellow at the Centre for Strategic Studies at Victoria University of Wellington.
Discussion with Prof Gill focused on developments in Chinese politics, the economy and foreign policy.
Council Executive Director Stephen Jacobi said the discussion was timely given China is currently hosting the G20 Summit in Hangzhou.
“Professor Gill’s insights were welcome and useful as the Council continues its work to promote a deeper understanding of China in New Zealand,” Mr Jacobi says.
