Mary Boyd on ‘Premiumisation’
NZ China Council is proud to bring to you this much anticipated interview with Mary Boyd, the director of the Economist Shanghai.
It has been a month since the highly successful Macro/Micro China event, and after several edits, here is a part of Mary Boyd’s insightful discussions on China.
In this video, Mary talks about trends for consumption: premiumisation and consumers looking for quality products. GDP in China will slow, however, the flip side is that the growth will be more sustainable. The Economist’s overall forecast is with increased affluence, consumer behaviours will be steady, and project a sustainable growth…with China becoming the world’s biggest retail market by 2016-2018, with a willingness to pay for premium product.
