MARY BOYD’S PRESENTATION ON CHINA
Mary Boyd has been a serving diplomat, business consultant and economic commentator in China for more than 20 years. She has served with the Canadian Foreign Affairs for much of this time, and most recently for The Economist Intelligence Unit. Mary has worked with a number of New Zealand diplomats during her time in China, and has since worked with and consulted to New Zealand companies and government agencies.
Mary visited New Zealand at the invitation of the New Zealand China Council in July this year. During her 6 days in NZ, she visited Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland, presenting to more than 650 people at 16 events. Mary was interviewed and quoted in the National Business Review, The Press, NZ Herald and Chinese Herald.
Mary’s programme was supported by a large number of organizations including NZTE, MFAT, the Meat Industry Assn, NZCTA, the Asia NZ Foundation, FOMANA, CDC/Canterbury EMA, Ngāi Tahu, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts and Fonterra.
Overall, the programme was highly successful based on the Council’s core objective of delivering insightful and factual information about the China relationship to a wide range of New Zealanders.
