Colum is a senior Partner with PwC in New Zealand. In 2009, Colum established, and undertook leadership of, the PwC China Markets Team. This is a team of Partners and staff across New Zealand who are dedicated to supporting both Chinese businesses investing in New Zealand and New Zealand companies either establishing or growing their business in China. He has worked with clients on China Business since 2002 and has been a frequent traveller to China ever since.
Colum has been involved with the New Zealand China Council since its inception, and has represented the Council as an investment specialist at the 2015 Partnership Forum in Beijing and as part of the New Zealand Prime Minister business delegation to China in 2016.
In May 2017 Colum was a New Zealand Special Representative at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Colum led the PwC team that was commissioned by the New Zealand China Council to prepare the “Belt and Road Initiative – A Strategic Pathway” report. This report, released in May 2018, focuses on how New Zealand can build connectivity with China and other countries along the Belt and Road. The intention of the report is to stimulate debate about how the New Zealand should engage with the Belt and Road Initiative and the impact and opportunities the Belt and Road Initiative creates for New Zealand’s relationship with China.
